Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a complementary therapy. It is a safe, gentle and powerful treatment which can never cause any pain or harm. It is a form of natural healing involving the use of hand movements with the intention of guiding the flow of healthy energy which surrounds us all through the client’s body to enhance wellbeing, reduce stress, promote healing and balance the body, mind and spirit.
Reiki can be used alongside conventional medicine and other therapies. It is not used to diagnose conditions or interfere with the treatment of medical professionals. You must always seek the advice of a medical professional regarding any physical and/or psychological ailment.
Reiki is used to stimulate the body’s own natural healing in the following ways:
Mental – May ease stress and anxiety and promote relaxation and sleep
Physical – May relieve aches, pains and fatigue. It also supports the immune system
Emotional – Balances emotions and promotes personal development
Spiritual – Brings peace and spiritual growth
Each treatment is unique to each individual. The treatment is safe and non-invasive.
Traditionally it is a hands on form of natural healing. It involves the Practitioner placing their hands gently on the client’s body in a sequence of hand positions spending several minutes holding each position on both the front and the back of the body.
Reiki will go to the areas where it is specifically needed and the treatment should feel gentle, light and comfortable.
A hands off approach can also be taken as well as distant healing but of course that depends on your preference.
Everyone is unique and may experience either some, all or none of the sensations below. If you do not feel anything this does not mean that the Reiki is not working, the energy will still flow to those areas where it is needed the most and the benefits of Reiki will still be experienced.
You may feel:
These are all good indicators that the Reiki is reaching the area/areas where it is needed the most.
The session will last between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
